Confirmations
When XRP Ledger settlement ships, Plaidly will require 1 ledger confirmation before marking a payment confirmed. The XRP Ledger achieves consensus in approximately 4 seconds using the Ripple Protocol Consensus Algorithm (RPCA).
Fees
XRP Ledger fees are extremely low — a base fee of 10 drops (0.00001 XRP, under $0.001) per transaction. Fees increase dynamically under load but remain very inexpensive.
Testnet (XRP Testnet)
- Faucet: https://faucet.altnet.rippletest.net/accounts
- Explorer: https://testnet.xrpl.org
- Use the sandbox simulate endpoint for instant test confirmations
Address format
XRP addresses start with r and are Base58Check encoded:
rN7n3473SaZBCG4dFL83w7PB5AMgMJHa7Destination tag
XRP uses destination tags (32-bit unsigned integers) to route payments to specific accounts on shared infrastructure such as exchanges. Plaidly automatically assigns unique destination tags for each payment session.
Notes
- XRP Ledger achieves 1-second finality for practical purposes — among the fastest L1 chains
- RLUSD is Ripple's USD stablecoin, issued natively on XRPL
- No smart contracts (Hooks are in development) — payment logic must be off-chain
- XRP uses an account-based model with a 10 XRP reserve requirement per account
- Plaidly handles account reserve and trust line setup automatically
